Employee Conflicts of Interest

Public employers must ensure money, property, and resources are used by employees for public purposes. Laws and guidance from state agencies establish extensive guidelines on impermissible conflicts of interest, gifts, and use of public property and money for personal purposes. Complying with these guidelines is trickier when there are nondisclosed practices and sophisticated technology used by employees that may be in conflict.  This webinar explores the law and guidelines around employee actions being taken for public purposes only and ensuring sufficient policies, procedures, and practices are in place to avoid violations.

Speaker

  • Chad Arnesen, Senior Attorney, Flaherty & Hood, P.A.

As a senior attorney at Flaherty & Hood, Chad concentrates his practice on municipal labor and employment matters ranging from negotiation to litigation. His areas of expertise include labor contracts, personnel performance and conduct, mediation and arbitration, employment policies and procedures, pay equity, wage, and benefit analysis, workplace investigations and organizational reviews. Before joining the firm, Chad served as a Chief Civilian Attorney for the Department of the Army. He also previously worked for a national civil litigation firm based in Minneapolis.
